MY FAVOURITE THINGS
For our third edition of Sunday Jazz Lounge I decided to do something different - a special program with some of my favourite jazz tracks: just me playing records for your listening pleasure. I talk about the Jazz Centre UK and local jazz club Annie’s Jazz and read excerpts from interviews with Miles Davis and Cleo Laine, amongst others; play some vinyl treasures which I found at a charity shop for fifty pence (for a 1958 pressing of George Shearing’s Latin Affair!), offer my musings about the universal art form that is jazz, and marvel at the extraordinary sounds of John Coltrane, Oscar Peterson, Nina Simone, Basie, Ellington, Sarah Vaughn, Wes Montgomery, Jimmy Smith, Cassandra Wilson and more.
If you fancy a mellow, uplifting, cool and definitely groovy selection of music, this program is for you!
